Monarch butterfly populations in Eastern North America are struggling for survival, and they are being faced with possible extinction. It is thought the cause of this is deforestation and the destruction of monarch butterfly habitats by herbicides and agriculture. There has been a recent push by conservation groups to raise awareness about this issue so the public may become interested in planting native plant species that are essential to this species' survival. This collection provides a description of this issue by using text, images, and video. The life cycle of the monarch butterfly is explained, native plant species that attract monarchs are described, and information about creating a monarch butterfly garden is provided.
